The Engagement (Travis' version) I decided to take Susan up to a really swank B&B in Napa. I rented out the "Walden Cottage" which is a part of the Old World Inn. It had all the ammenities... a fireplace, a Jacuzzi tub, and a home theater integrated into the bed. We had a gourmet breakfast each morning, and chocolate desserts at night. On Saturday afternoon, after a private wine tasting at the B&B, Susan announced she was getting very tired. This didn't quite fit into my plan, as I was planning on waiting to ask her after dinner. I told her I had a surprise... she confessed later she was expecting chocolate. The Engagement (Susan's version) As part of my Christmas present from Travis, he arranged for us to spend the weekend at The Old World Inn (a B&B in Napa). It was quite lovely and we arrived there late on a Friday night. I probably should have known that something was up when the bed was covered with red rose petals, but I didn't think too much into it. (Naiive me...) On Saturday morning, after in-room professional massages, We toured around downtown Napa all day on Saturday and did some wine tasting in the late afternoon. We had dinner reservations at 8:15 and by 7:15 I was feeling a bit tired, so we decided to go back to our cottage to rest and freshen up for dinner. I had told Travis that I was going to be exhausted after dinner, which I guess didn't fit in to his original plan. While I was resting on the bed, he announced that he had a surprise for me and told me to close my eyes. I thought he had bought me some chocolates or something like that. So, when I opened my eyes, there was the ring, in the box. Quite an overwhelming moment for both of us. Travis managed to squeak out "Will you marry me?" to which, I think I replied "Yeah". And that was that.... For those inquiring minds, we did manage to pull ourselves together enough to get to our dinner reservation only 10 minutes late and had a wonderful meal at Julia's Kitchen (Very yummy!) in the Copia, followed by our own champagne celebration back at the cottage that evening.
On Sunday, we toured the napa valley before heading home.
